A stand-up pouch describes the bag, not the machine. The same pouch can be filled through an open top, a zipper opening or a spout, and each route needs different checks. This page helps you define your pouch, see where it lands in the LINEVO catalog and prepare a sample for review.

Define the Stand-Up Pouch

A stand-up pouch, or doypack, has a bottom gusset that lets it stand on a shelf. To compare it with a machine we need numbers and a photo, not just the name. Note:

  • Width and length, measured the same way each time
  • Bottom gusset depth
  • Film structure and thickness
  • Plain top, zipper or spout
  • Notch, hole or tear features

The pouch specifications guide shows how to measure and record these.

Premade or Rollstock

Premade pouches are made elsewhere and arrive as separate bags. The machine picks one up, opens it, fills it, seals it and releases it. Rollstock machines form the bag from film as they run. This page covers premade only.

The choice affects pouch cost, film options and changeover. With premade pouches, a new size can need new grippers or settings, and two pouches that look alike aren't necessarily interchangeable. For a wider look at machine types, see the how to choose guide.

Open-Top, Zipper or Spout

These are closure formats that can sit on the same stand-up body, and a pouch can have a zipper and a gusset together.

  • Open-top: the machine opens the mouth, fills it and heat seals the top.
  • Zipper: the machine has to open a pouch that has a zipper. The catalog marks zipper handling as a review item, so we don't call it confirmed.
  • Spout: the pouch has a fitment. It may be filled through the open top before capping, or through the spout. A spout doesn't mean it's filled through the spout.

The catalog treats these differently. The spout route has its own listing with cap feeding and screwing, which is a different step from sealing an open top. Pick the format first and we can go straight to the right listing.

Product and Fill Volume

The product decides much of the filling method.

Product typeUsual method in our catalog wordingRead more
Granules and solid piecesWeighing, usually a multihead weigherLV-210 listing
Liquids and pastesPump and nozzleLiquid pouch filling
PowdersAuger, general wording onlyPowder pouch filling

The catalog lists LV-210 for granules and pieces such as snacks, dried fruit and nuts, and for liquids and pastes. It has no verified powder configuration. Fill volume is limited by pouch size, the headspace you need for sealing and product density, so give us the target weight or volume together with the pouch dimensions.

Compatibility Matrix

This shows the honest state of each route. It isn't a list of verified results.

The LV-210 listings show a bag width of 90 to 210 mm and a bag length of 110 to 330 mm. Those are catalog values for your quotation to confirm. They don't prove a given pouch will run.

The LV-210 listing includes pouch pickup, opening and sealing. The weighing and filling arrangement and zipper handling are marked for review. The LV-210 model page has the platform summary. For the spout route, the LV-160 entry on the liquid page shows what that listing covers.

Pouch Sample Checklist

Send us:

  1. A clear photo of the pouch, front and side
  2. Measured width, length and gusset depth
  3. Film structure and thickness, if known
  4. Closure: plain, zipper or spout, with spout diameter if any
  5. The product and target fill amount
  6. A few empty pouches, once we confirm quantity and where to send them

Please don't ship samples before we confirm. For product trials, see the sample testing page. A result with one pouch doesn't carry over to another.

Review Your Pouch

Share the pouch and the product, and we'll tell you which listing is closest and what still needs a check. The quotation states the scope, and the price guide explains what affects cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a stand-up pouch need a special machine?

The catalog lists LV-210 entries that mention self-standing bags but publishes no stand-up-specific parameters. We check your pouch dimensions and closure against the listing.

Can the same machine run different pouch widths?

A width change can need adjusted or replaced grippers. Changeover time isn't published, so ask in the project review.

Is zipper handling included?

It's marked review required in the catalog. We confirm it with a pouch sample before it goes into a quotation.

Check Pouch Compatibility

Send your product, pouch photo and fill target on WhatsApp. We reply with a configuration to review before you decide.
